Primary Schools
Assemblies and lessons
Each week our Schools’ worker, Beth leads Primary school assemblies on topical and Biblical themes. Throughout the year she offers lessons on the Bible and Christianity which fit in with the RE curriculum. At Easter, Beth runs interactive Easter workshops in several Congleton schools.
Bible Explorer
Developed by ‘walk thru the Bible’ ministries, Bible Explorer is a fast paced series of 10 lessons aimed at Years 5 and 6 in Primary schools. The lessons cover both the Old and the New Testament and are interactive and fun using Kinaesthetic, visual and auditory learning styles to teach the big picture story of the Bible. Wyn Reynolds and Beth Cosgrove take Bible Explorer into many schools in Congleton and the surrounding area.
Growing Through
This is a peer support group for children in school years 1 to 6 who have experience loss through death or divorce. It provides a safe setting in which children can discuss their feelings with their peers who are experiencing similar situations. They are helped by adult facilitators. The groups run for 13 weeks during term time.
Open the Book
OPEN THE BOOK offers a programme of themed and dramatized Bible stories. Our teams of volunteer storytellers use drama, mime, props, costume – even the children and staff themselves to present Bible stories in ways that are lively, engaging , informative…and great fun for everyone involved! From New Life Church we take Open the Book into Smallwood, Quinta and Astbury Primary School in Congleton . There are other teams who go into some of the other schools.
So now, thanks to OPEN THE BOOK, children in schools will have the opportunity during collective worship to discover all the wonder and wisdom that the Bible can offer.
