Slovakia Team
Steve and Jo are team leaders for YWAM International in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia and are supported by New Life Church.
They have a team of 10 people from 6 nations who work in the following ministries: – Church Ministries, Counselling, including a Marriage Workshop – Creative Arts – Discipleship – Family Ministry – Leadership Training – Training Seminars – Speaking/Teaching – Worship/Prayer – Each year the team also run a 1 week Family Camp.

A new work commencing in 2008 is the Discipleship Training Programme……this is an important new initiative which God has brought into being.
Alpha Course
From February to April 2000 we ran the first alpha evangelism course in the capitol city of Bratislava. In addition to this we are trained and are providing ongoing advice to a Catholic community in how to run the course themselves.
Family Camp
The family camp is in it’s 3rd year. Each year our Family Ministries team organise a week-long event for entire families set in the mountainous region of central Slovakia. Teaching about how to have strong marriages and families is given. Through the week emphasis is put on finding one’s special way of helping others. This is mainly serving Slovakian families, but we are always open to other teams coming in to serve the camp.
Marriage Seminars
After our Family camp in July 1999 our Family Ministries section started up bimonthly marriage seminars. Starting on a Friday night, these seminars contain teaching about communication in marriage, secrets to understanding one’s spouse and working together. Also included is time for processing and praying together and for a special evening together.
Mentoring
We seek to provide mentoring to help young people recognise their God-given abilities and spiritual gifts, and to begin to strategise and plan for the future in order to mature in these talents and gain more from the Lord. At the moment this is happening on a one-on-one basis, but we plan to do this training in a seminar format in future.
Leadership Training & Discipleship
We provide much needed discipleship teaching to various prayer and youth groups. From time-to-time we organise leadership training seminars for leaders.
